...for posterity's sake. i had always considered it very strange to publish your thoughts online for all to see. after all, who cares? and then, as i was feeding my daughter, i realized - she might. so, here goes...

country bumpkin

so it seems as though my new(er) little cherub is not a city kid. in fact, i think that he hates the city. he has not been one to sleep during the first 3 months of his life, but seemed to find his inner peace up in OP, maine. truthfully, it would be hard not to find your chi up there, but the transformation was insane. he took 2.5 hour naps twice a day and was incredibly happy when he was awake. it was unbelievable. then we came back and my skittish little boy returned. it is very sad. i feel very guilty about subjecting him to the noise of the streets and the crappy air that he apparently hates and i can not wait to move out of here.

so, one week from now we close. what luck, not a second too soon. my little guy will have quiet. when miss b is napping, that is. it will be really great to go outside without it being a major ordeal complete with snacks, drinks and strollers. and 2 flights of stairs. see you later apartamente.

although, i talked to my landlord last night and he has rented this place out. can you even believe that someone else is going to live here? i can't quite get over the fact that it isn't going to remain empty as a shrine to us. as much as i am dying to get out of here, i will be a mess when we leave the place that both of my babies came home to for the last time.

oh yeah, despite hating the city, drew bug slept until 6 AM last night. most likely a fluke that i shouldn't be speaking of, but hey, what the heck. it was nuts, i woke up and felt that something was not quite right because it was light outside and then it hit me. i slapped michael awake - not nice, i know, but i was shocked - and said - he slept through the night! and then i realized that i am not that reliable these days so i followed it up with - right? did i get up last night? i don't think i did. did i? he said no but i'm pretty sure that he wouldn't know if i got up or he just shot out an answer to shut me up. so i should really say - i think he slept through the night. we'll see what happens tonight. every 2 hours no doubt.

trani

just when i thought i'd seen everything a person could do with dessert, along comes trani. michael and i have long been fascinated by the storefront in the north end that seemed destined to never open. we knew it was a dessert type place and assumed that it was normal dessert type place. oh no.

so here's the deal. trani has shelves of baked goods and you pick something (michael got cupcakes.) then they take a gun of sorts and infuse the cupcake with the ice cream of your choice. the cupcakes get put into a little styrofoam container and it is put on a conveyor belt (still open) where it rolls under a hot fudge machine. no joke. can you even imagine? the even crazier part of this is that it was really really good.

this will certainly help my burgeoning post-partem butt...

now this here's a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down

my late night feedings have resurrected my love of cheesy sitcoms thanks to nick at night and tvland. i believe that i have seen every fresh prince of bel air episode that ever was made at this point, but i still can't get enough. there's something about watching these shows in the middle of the night though that has taken me to a new level of clarity. for example -

DJ on Roseanne stands for Dan Jr.

all the kids on Everbody Loves Raymond are actually siblings - last name sweeten

the middle child on Full House - jodie sweeten - is not a member of this family (i had to go to imdb for that one. i thought i was a rock star for figuring this connection out, but her last name is actually sweetin. bummer)

BOTH haley joel osmont and jonathan lipnicki (jerry maguire kid) were the kids on The Jeff Foxworthy show. and i think that the teacher in the one episode that i saw was jake's girlfriend in 16 candles. i could have been hallucinating for that one though.

i have NO idea what DJ on Full House stands for

actually, this reminds me that i have always wondered what DH stands for. i've seen people blog it and i know that it refers to the partner in the relationship but what is it? designated hitter? dick head? dumb husband? dear husband? let me know.

i can't think of anything else i've learned right now.

ole, ole, ole, ole

oh yes. it happened. i have to laugh when i look at the picture from my last post. the pitiful little crowd. so we went away for a week and came back today just in time for the madness. it was loads of fun to empty the very large bag on our roof amidst the diehard italia fans that showed up 4 hours before gametime. you really can't fault them since the cafe across the street - featured in the previous photos - had a DJ blasting europop already. when good synthesizers go bad. anyway, i taped this celebration as well so the babes can see what they surely will never remember. i think it will take many weeks before i stop hearing EE-tal-YA being chanted in my head.

i almost forgot, its summer in the north end so there surely is a feast. to make the whole scenario even more surreal, the crowds parted for the saint to march through. pazzo.
